Campaigns module overview

An overview of the Campaigns module, covering how to create email and SMS campaigns, use dynamic content, trigger campaigns automatically, run split tests, and review closed-loop reporting.

Written by Fatma Abid

The Campaigns module enables you to create, send, and measure personalised email and SMS campaigns — all from one place. It includes closed-loop reporting so you can understand not just open and click rates, but the actual impact your campaigns have on visits and revenue.

What you can do

  • Create one-off sends, automated campaigns.

  • Send via a single channel or across multiple channels simultaneously.

  • Use dynamic content to hyper-personalise each communication to the individual recipient.

  • Trigger campaigns automatically based on customer visits, dates, or the weather.

  • Run split tests and control groups to identify what works best.

  • Track performance from open and click rates through to spend and repeat visits.

  • Store all brand images in the built-in asset library.

  • Use responsively designed, on-brand email templates that can be edited on the fly.

Dynamic content

Dynamic content allows you to tailor what each recipient sees based on their behaviour and interests. For example, a customer who has engaged with a kids menu page can see a kids menu section, while all other recipients see a default version of the same campaign. This is managed through content tagging — adding categories to your campaigns to learn what customers click on and engage with, then using that data to build segments and retarget based on interests.

Campaign triggers

Rather than sending manually, you can configure campaigns to send automatically based on:

  • A customer's visit behaviour (for example, a post-visit thank you email).

  • A specific date or time (such as a birthday campaign).

  • Weather conditions (weather-dependent campaigns).

  • A customer reaching a spend or visit threshold.

Split testing

Split testing lets you improve campaign effectiveness before sending to your full audience. You choose what to test (for example, subject lines, campaign content, or offer types), select the proportion of your audience to test on first, and set the number of days before a winner is picked. The best-performing version is then automatically sent to the remaining contacts.

Campaign reporting

The Campaign Summary gives you a full view of your campaign performance, including:

  • Open rates, click rates, and unsubscribe rates.

  • Direct and indirect spend from customers who visited after receiving the campaign.

  • Tracked visits and time of day analysis.

  • Bounce and delivery data.

The automated closed-loop process connects digital engagement to in-venue spend, so you can understand the true commercial impact of every campaign — not just whether it was opened.

Channels supported

The Campaigns module supports communications across:

  • Email: Using personalised dynamic content.

  • SMS: Succinct direct messaging with short links for calls to action.

  • Push notifications: For loyalty programmes, click and collect, and bookings.

  • Web push notifications: For timely, relevant updates and re-engagement.

  • Social channels: Custom and lookalike audiences via Facebook, Instagram, and Google (requires the Audience Management module).

  • Paid search ads: For lookalike audiences and customer acquisition.

⚠️ Important: Creation and automation of campaigns to Facebook and Instagram requires the Audience Management module. Contact your account manager if this is not included in your package.
