You can create new campaigns to contact your customers in the Campaign module. You can also check the performance of existing campaigns, and view and add to your uploaded assets.

To use the campaign builder, follow the steps below:

  1. From the left-hand menu, click Campaigns.

  2. Click Campaign Builder.

  3. Work through the sections:

    1. Target

    2. Create

    3. Voucher, optional

    4. Sender

    5. Design

    6. Schedule

Target

Here you can add your selection, set the campaign type and sender profile, and decide how to reach your customers by following the steps below:

  1. To add a selection, select one of the options:

    • Import Selection: To load a previously saved selection.

    • New Selection: To open the Contact Segmentation screen and build your selection. Once finished, click Use.

  2. Set the parameters for your campaign:

    • Campaign Type and Sender Profile:
This setting determines whether your selection will be filtered by the opt-in status or not. several conditions, for example, the sender from name and address, reply to name and address, and whether it's a standard or service email.

    • Opt in level:
Determined by your customers' opt-in preferences, if you have them set up. For example, some customers may have only signed up to your newsletters, so if you're sending a newsletter, make sure to select this opt-in level.

  3. If you want the customers to receive one communication regardless of how many channels you will choose later, select De-duplicate by channel.

๐Ÿค“Tip: Selecting De-duplicate by Channel ensures that each customer receives only one communication, based on the priority order of your chosen channels. If this option is not selected, campaigns for all chosen channels will be sent to the contact.

  4. Select the campaign channel:

    • Email.

    • SMS.

    • Push Notification.

    • Web Notification.

    • Custom Audience.

    • Custom List.

    • Promotion.

๐Ÿค“Tip: If you've chosen more than one channel, remember to add the relevant order of your channels, if you've selected the De-duplicate by Channel in the previous step. You can adjust this priority by dragging channels into the desired sequence.

  5. Click Next.

๐Ÿค“Tip: The Count column indicates how many of your initial selection you can contact via the chosen channel.

โš ๏ธImportant: Once you click Next you can't edit the choice of the sender profile.

Create

In the Create screen, you can start to create your campaign:

  1. Enter the internal title and description of your campaign.

  2. From the Category dropdown, select the relevant campaign category for your campaign.

  3. In the Export Fields drop-down, select your export field list or create a new one.

    • To create a new export format, click Manage export formats icon.

    • Customise the fields of your new export format:

      • From the column with the green items, use the drag and drop method to move the fields you want into the column with the yellow items.

      • If you want to remove some fields from your view, drag and drop the fields in the column with the yellow items into the opposite section

      • Once all updates are made, click Save.

๐Ÿค“Tip: Export fields are the dynamic fields that can be used in the content of your campaign to make your campaign more personalised. This includes fields like first name and last name for example. By default, the pre-set export format for the campaigns is StandardEmail.

  4. In Control Group, select a percentage of the target audience to not receive the campaign. This creates a control group of customers, allowing you to compare the performance later.

  5. To create the campaign as an automated campaign, select Use this campaign to create an automated campaign.

  6. Further options:

    • From the Split Test dropdown, you can set up a split test per each channel with up to six splits. This can be used to test different subject lines or different email content.

    • To include a voucher, select I want to setup a voucher for the campaign.

    • Select if you want to send the campaign to a recipient more than once. Sometimes an email address can exist more than once in your target audience. By default the campaign will only be sent to one email address, however if you check this box it will be sent to all contacts with the same email address.

    • To resend the email via SMS to customers with a mobile number, select Activate SMS failover.

    • Ensure Re-process my selection prior to the campaign being sent is selected.

      • In 99% of cases should remain selected. This ensures that 30 minutes before the campaign sends, your selection refreshes. This can either add and new customers who now meet your selection criteria or remove customers who no longer meet the criteria.

Voucher

If you've decided to add a voucher offer to your campaign, and you've selected the option I want to setup a voucher for this campaign, in the previous step, you can attach a voucher to the campaign, see the options below:

  • To select an existing voucher, click the Use icon by the voucher.

  • To create a new voucher, click Create Offer and populate the new voucher offer details.

Sender

As you fill in the details on the Sender screen, the email preview on the right-hand side automatically updates, allowing you to see how your email will appear in a customersโ€™ inbox.
โ€‹
Here you can set up:

  • Description: Is already populated from the Create screen.

  • Subject: The subject line for your email.

  • Preheader: This appears under the subject line. You can add more information to the subject of the email.

  • Throttle Send: You can use the throttling option to send large email campaigns safely and effectively. Instead of sending all emails at once, which can trigger spam filters and damage your sender reputation, the system distributes your campaign gradually over time with a controlled increase in volume each hour.

    • Count: Defines how many emails to send in each batch.

    • Every: Sets the time interval between batches, example every X minutes or hours.

    • Period: Determines the recurrence pattern, example no recurrence, daily, weekly.

  • Bypass the business rules: Ticking this box ensures the campaign is sent to everyone in your selection regardless of when they last received a campaign from you.

  • Add UTM codes: If you've integrated your Google Analytics account to your instance you can set UTM codes to track the performance of your campaign further across your Google Analytics account.

๐Ÿ“ŒNote: A pop-up appears if you haven't added a preheader. This isnโ€™t essential, you can either skip or add one.

Design

In the Design step, you can choose which template design you want to use for this campaign.

  1. Click Use by the relevant template you want to use in your design.

  2. Proceed with modifying the design of your campaign.

  3. Save your modifications, and send an email test to yourself if required.

  4. Once you're happy with the design, click Apply Design.

๐Ÿ“ŒNote: A pop-up appears to highlight for you if all the required items are added correctly.

  • Verifying subject.

  • Verifying empty links: If your campaign design includes links that aren't well added.

  • Verifying personal links.

  • Verifying perso fields: If your campaign design includes perso fields that aren't well added.

  • Verifying empty images.
