Create a journey using real-time trigger

You can create multiple step, multi-channel, customer journeys with follow up campaigns based on time delays and action or non-action decisions.

Choose your journey layout

  1. From the Modules Menu, then click Journey Builder.

  2. Click New Journey.

    āš ļøImportant: If you want to create a journey using a real-time trigger journey, you should only choose the blank template option.

  3. Select the Blank Template.


Customise your journey settings

  1. Select the sender profile: select your service sender profile.

    šŸ“ŒNote: Only service profiles will be available. This means the campaign will disregard any marketing opt-ins unless specified in the API. You can't update the sender profile once the journey is live. You can still edit the journey if you saved is as a draft.

    The same sender profile is used across all campaigns within the journey.

  2. Select the Start Source:

    1. Select Selection to trigger your journey using the nodes or wizards in the Data Tree or selections you've created.

    2. Select Real Time to trigger your journey in real time from an API call e.g. POSTContact or Transaction API.

  3. Select the Schedule End Date.

  4. If you need to action an exclusion rule, select Exclusion Rule and define the criteria.

    āš ļøImportant: Without exclusion rules, contacts entering a journey could receive the campaign every time it cycles, potentially every hour.

  5. Click Save.


Design your real time journey

Real time event creation

To design your journey after you've set up its rules, follow each of these steps:

āš ļøImportant: Click save on the top left to save any new updates you make, as your progress does not auto-save.

General

The general step is for the general setup of your real-time event.

  1. From the brand dropdown, select the brand you want to apply the real-time event for.

  2. Enter a name for your real-time event. This will appear on the homepage of real-time events.

  3. From the Event Trigger dropdown, select the type of API call that will trigger the event. The available trigger types are:

    • Contact: Contact creation and updating contact details. Deprecated — use Customer instead.

    • Customer: Contact creation and updating contact details. Use this in place of the deprecated Contact trigger.

    • Hotel Booking (if applicable): Receiving contacts' hotel bookings.

    • Reservation: Receiving contacts table reservations.

    • Survey: Receiving contacts survey/feedback responses.

    • Transaction: Receiving transactional or EPOS data, such as a purchase or first transaction event.

    • Visit: Receiving data when a contact has made a visit to a location, such as a Wi-Fi check-in.

  4. From the Event Trigger Method dropdown, you will have the available trigger methods related to the previously chosen event trigger, select the relevant option.

  5. Click Save.

Campaign

This step is for the real time event creation, which is similar to how you would build a campaign within campaign builder.

  1. Enter a title for the campaign, this will appear in automated campaigns once set live.

  2. Select which channel you would like to use to deliver your campaign:

    • Email

    • SMS

    • Push Notifications

    • Web Push Notifications

    • Custom List

  3. To set an exclusion rule, by Send only one communication per customer, select the tick box.

    āš ļøImportant: Without exclusion rules, contacts could receive the real-time event campaign every time it cycles, potentially every hour if they were eligible to receive it again. sender profile.

    • A Day.

    • A Week.

    • Every 2 Weeks.

    • Every 3 Weeks.

    • A Month.

    • A Quarter.

    • Every 6 Months.

    • A Year.

  4. Click Save.

  5. Set up your campaign.

    āš ļøImportant: Only service profiles will be available. This means the campaign will disregard any marketing opt-ins unless specified in the API.

    Also, the campaign details cannot be changed at a later stage, the only detail you can update is the campaign's design, thus it's important to add all the setup details correctly.

    šŸ“ŒNote: If you wish to personalise your campaign content, you can only do this with the data that has been included within the API call. Export fields can be applied to your content the same way as in campaign builder.

    Export fields available will be dependent on the API being used and what is being sent in the API call.

Rules setup

Apply a set of rules or conditions that need to be met for the real-time event to be triggered. This ensures that the campaign is specifically for that type of action and from a specific third party.

  1. From the displayed items on the left side, drag across the attributes you want to use as conditions.

  2. For each attribute, select from the displayed dropdown whether it should be:

    • Included in.

    • Not included in.

    • Contains.

    • Starts with.

    • Is equal to.

    • Is not equal to.

    • Is empty.

    • Is not empty.

  3. In the text box next to the previous dropdown, write the relevant value.

  4. To join any other attributes, simply drag and drop the chosen items into the selection section

    šŸ¤“Tip: The choice of operations is important:

    • And AND.png operation: If you use And between the selected criteria, the returned contacts match all specified criteria.

    • Or OR.png operation: If you use Or between the selected criteria, the returned contacts match any one of the specified criteria.

  5. Click Save.

šŸ“ŒNote: The rules and conditions you set up for the real-time event will be dependent on the API used that was set up in your first step. Refer to Atreemo API documentation for more details on the fields that can be used.



Design your journey

Add a campaign

To add a campaign, follow the steps below:

  1. From Journey Items, drag and drop the box indicating the word campaign to the plus icon.

  2. Hover over the campaign block, and to create the campaign, click the plus icon:

    • Create campaign: this will let you create a new campaign.

    • Re-use campaign: this will provide you with the list of your existing campaigns so you can create a copy. By the relevant campaign, click Choose Campaign, then give it a title and proceed with the remaining setup.

  3. To add a delay, from the Journey Items drag and drop the Delay box.

    1. Add a title to your delay so you can identify it later on.

    2. Adjust the criteria for the delay by typing the number of minutes, hours, days, weeks, years.

    3. Click Save.

šŸ“Œ Note: You can't update the delay criteria after that your journey is live.

Add a decision

To add a decision, follow the steps below:

  1. From the Journey Items, drag and drop the Decision box.

    • If a customers action meets the decision criteria, they receive the Yes flow.

    • If a customers actions don't meet the decision criteria, they receive the No flow.

  2. Add a title so you can identify it later on.

  3. Select the action based on what the next step in the journey is:

    • Clicked: The customer has clicked any link on the previous campaigns.

    • Visited: Customer made a visit.

    • Redeemed: The voucher in the last campaign is redeemed.

    • Viewed: Last campaign is viewed.

    • Selection: You can include a selection from the contact segmentation.

  4. Click Save.

  5. Add the remaining flows

  6. To end the flow, add the End box from the Journey Items.

šŸ¤“Tip: A journey item is linked correctly when there's a blue linking line between the item and the last or next item.


Activate your journey

Once you're happy with your journey design and flows, you can activate your journey following the below steps:

  1. From the top left of the page, click Activate.

  2. In New Start Date, enter when to start sending the journey.

  3. Click Update.
