Use the new email editor

Campaign Builder Evolved uses a drag-and-drop email editor built on BeeFree. Learn about toolbar features, content blocks, dynamic content, personalisation, and how to save your design.

Written by Fatma Abid

⚠️ Important: The new editor stores campaigns in a different format to the legacy editor. Existing email campaigns remain editable in the legacy editor. To use existing designs in the new editor, you need to migrate them. See Migrate your templates to the new campaign builder.

Toolbar features

The editor toolbar gives you access to quality checks and editor utilities.

Feature

What it does

Smart Check

Runs accessibility, link, contrast, and spam checks in one panel before you send.

Spell Check

Opens a side panel with suggested corrections that reload into the editor.

Spam Checker

Opens a dedicated spam analysis panel if enabled for your account.

Import HTML

Imports an .html file and converts it to the editor format. This replaces all existing content in the editor.

Toggle Structure

Overlays row and column structure on the canvas so you can see your layout clearly.

Send Test Email

Opens a modal to send a test to one or more email addresses.

Preview

Saves the email first, then renders a full preview with dynamic rows merged.

Managing links

The Link Editor is a unified panel accessible from the toolbar. It handles all link types in one place, including:

  • Standard links

  • UTM parameters (per link or campaign-wide)

  • SLP links

  • Deep links

  • Survey links

  • Unsubscribe links

  • Preference centre links

Building your email

The right-hand panel has two tabs, Content and Rows, where you drag and drop elements onto the canvas.

Content blocks

Available content blocks include: Title, Paragraph, List, Table, Image, Button, Social links, Divider, Spacer, Menu, Video, HTML, and Dynamic Content.

Layout rows

The Rows tab shows pre-built column layouts as visual thumbnails. Select a layout to add it to the canvas, then drag content blocks into the columns.

The Stack on Mobile setting on each row controls whether multiple blocks stack vertically on mobile instead of sitting side by side. This is set to Yes by default.

Working with blocks

When you hover over or click a block on the canvas, you can:

  • Reorder: Grab the handle and drag to a new position.

  • Duplicate: Click the duplicate icon. Synced shared sections maintain their sync.

  • Delete: Click the delete icon. There is no confirmation step.

  • Comment: Click the comment icon to start a thread-based comment on that block.

Shared sections

Shared sections are reusable rows that stay in sync across campaigns. Access them from the Rows tab. A sync indicator appears on any placed shared section row.

To stop a row syncing, click the pencil icon on the row and select Unsync. Multi-row shared sections move, delete, and duplicate as a group.

Display conditions

Display conditions are available on all content blocks and rows. You can choose to hide a specific row on Desktop or Mobile, so you can tailor how your email looks on each device.

Dynamic content

You can add dynamic content panels to rows in your email to show different content to different contacts. To set one up:

  1. Insert a row onto the canvas.

  2. Scroll to Row Properties in the right-hand panel.

  3. Click Open dynamic panel.

  4. Choose to create a new panel or use an existing one.

  5. To assign targeting rules, select the row, scroll to Row Properties, and click Manage Rule.

📌 Note: The ability to preview different email variations per targeted contact (dynamic panel preview) is coming soon.

Personalisation and special inserts

You can insert personalisation fields inline within any text block using the block toolbar. Voucher codes (QR and barcode) and wallet passes (Apple and Google) are inserted via the Dynamic Content block.

Subject line and preheader

The subject line and preheader are entered above the editor toolbar at the top of the Design step. The subject line supports personalisation fields and dynamic subject variants, so you can send different subject lines to different contacts.

Saving your design

Two options are available in the editor footer:

  • Save: Saves the template and subject/preheader.

  • Save & Apply: Saves and runs a verification check before marking the design as complete and returning you to the campaign flow.
