One of the first tasks you need to complete after your onboarding is to import your contacts database.

Prepare your contacts list

To prepare your import list, follow the steps below:

  1. Export your existing contact database as a series of files.

    • Each file should be in one location, containing contacts that have this as their favourite site.

    • In the import process, you'll map the contacts to one site.

  2. Add a new column in each file, titled Site ID.

  3. Add the required site ID to the column.

🤓Tip: To locate the site ID, open the Settings, click Sites Management then check the site ID column.

  4. Save your files as CSVs.

⚠️Warning: The file name shouldn't contain any special characters, as the import process is case sensitive. Also, the first column in the file to import shouldn't be empty as that may cause errors.

Import your contacts

To import your contacts, follow the steps below:

  1. In Acteol, from the left-hand menu, click Import.

  2. Select the import file, and add your privacy policy.

  3. From the Brand dropdown, select the brand you want to assign the imported customer list to, then click Next.

  4. Set the mapping fields from the import CSV file to the Acteol Contact fields.

    • Ensure you map the Site ID in the import file to the Home Site ID field.

  5. Click Submit, then click Finish.

Locate your uploaded customers list

  1. Open the Single Customer View module.

  2. Click Contact Segmentation.

  3. By the node Import, click the arrow icon.

  4. You will find the data list under the name you've chosen for the Source ID.

    • Duplicated contacts: represent the already existing customers but were added again from the new import.

    • New contacts: represent the newly added customers within the new import.

⚠️Important: It is possible to contact the newly added customers via this import only within the next 24 hours after which the automated refreshes are done.
