Using the drag and drop template builder, you can design your own email template and use it when you're building your email campaigns.

When you’re creating your template, you’re not aiming to build a standard email layout, you’re simply creating all the panels that you want to be available to you when you come to build an email campaign in future.

To create a template, follow the steps below:

  1. Click Campaigns, then click Templates.

  2. Click New Template, then enter the template details:

    • Template Name.

    • Font family and text size.

    • Sender Profile: Which sender profiles can use the template.

  3. Click Save.

Design your template

Choose the panels

  1. From the right-hand panel, drag and drop your required blocks.

    • The standard default blocks are:

      • Text, Image, Image Text, Text Image, Vertical Image Text, Button, Countdown, HTML Snippet and Socials.

  2. You can also create custom blocks in the template level. For example, you might want to create a title block that you can use for titles and headers throughout communications.

  3. You can use the formatting bar when customising your blocks.

Preselect the panels

The template design panels can either be pre-selected or optional. Pre-selected panels appear automatically in the template when used in a campaign, while optional panels must be dragged from the panels section and placed manually.

To ensure a block appears by default without manual action when you're creating your campaign design, set it as pre-selected during template setup:

  1. Hover on the relevant panel, then click the three dots icon.

  2. Click the Settings icon.

  3. From the General tab, select Pre-Selected.

🤓Tip: It's recommended to name your panels, so that you can identify them when you use the drag and drop option on the campaign design.

Control the design panels

  • Hover over the three-dot menu icon, then select one of the options:

    • Move: Click and drag to move the block to a new place in your template.

    • Settings: Access the specific settings for this block.

      • In this settings tab each block has four tabs, plus its own unique settings.

        • General: Add as Header, footer or mark as Preselected, edit the name and assign a category.

        • Background: Edit the background colours.

        • Border: Add a border.

        • Padding: Edit any padding within the Block.

    • Duplicate: Duplicate the block.

    • Delete: Delete the block.

    • AI Options: Available for the text blocks.

Save your updates

The changes you make to the design do not auto-save, thus it's important to continously save as you make any new edits.

  • To save your changes, click the Save icon.

Layout options

To structure your template and make more sophisticated designs, use headers and footers, and the layout blocks:

  • Columns: Add up to eight columns side by side.

  • Separator: An empty block to provide spacing, or turn into a separating line.

  • Container: To hold other blocks.

Container

You can use the container block to combine other blocks and build some complex custom blocks.

Typically, you'll use these to create the header and footer for an email, combining images, text, and columns into one unified block.

Columns

To edit your columns, follow the steps below:

  1. Hover over the three dot menu icon, then click the settings icon.

  2. Customize the columns:

    • General: Add as Header, footer or mark as Preselected, edit the name and assign a category.

    • Apply a background: Click Background, then select a colour.

    • Column quantity: Click Columns number, then use the arrows.

      • By default, this is set to two columns.

      • You can have up to eight columns.

    • Change the size: Click Columns Settings, then change the percentages.

      • These should add up to 100%.

    • Set to stack on mobile: Click Columns Settings, then select Not Stacked On Mobile; Yes or No.

    • Apply a border: Click Border, then select a type, thickness and colour.

    • Display on mobile: select Yes to inverse the columns order on the mobile view.

You can drop other blocks into each column section.

Separator

By default the separator is blank and set to 20px high. You can change the background colour and height of the separator in the settings.

To turn the blank separator into a line separator, follow these steps:

  1. Hover over the three dot menu icon, click the settings icon, then click Spacer.

  2. From the Type list, select Solid.

    • You can adjust the thickness, the width and the colour.

Header and footer

Most headers and footers are a combination of blocks. To create a header or footer, follow the steps below:

⚠️ Important: Once you’ve selected the Header or Footer box in the settings, you can’t deselect it. This will permanently be the header or footer for this template. You can still edit it on the template level, but to assign a different one, you need to delete the one you have and create a new one from scratch.

  1. Drag a container block to the template.

  2. Drag any text or image blocks you require into the container.

    • This is usually columns, text, and images.

  3. Click the Settings icon.

  4. Click the General tab, then select Header or Footer.
